Gallbladder pain

The main function of the gallbladder is the production and storage of bile, which is an important element in the digestive process because it breaks down fats from food. Sad to say, the number of people affected by gallbladder disease is increasing every day. The worst symptom of gallbladder disease is the pain which usually appears when the gallstones block the bile channel, and this type of pain is very strong and unpleasant.

Gallbladder pain

We have already said that the gallbladder plays an important role in the digestive process and whenever the function of the gallbladder is disturbed it affects the digestion. Most frequently the affected person will feel nausea followed by vomiting and also the pain we have mentioned before. The pain usually starts in the upper-right part of the abdomen, and then it spreads to the back. The pain in this stage can be followed by jaundice, bloatedness, diarrhea, high-temperature, etc.

In order to avoid the pain caused by the gallbladder disease, there are some preventive measures the affected person may take, and the first is to change its eating habits. The change consists of avoiding foods rich in cholesterol and fats. It is also recommended to start drinking fresh fruit juices (pear, apple, lemon) in order to reduce the pain. It is furthermore recommended to use healthy oils from olives, canola, fish or flaxseed and fruits rich in fibers.

Another important thing to keep in mind is to avoid rapid loss of weight. This causes the formation of gallstones and accordingly increases the chances for gallstones attack.

If you can't stand the immense pain associated with gallbladder disease you can use painkiller medications or anti-inflammatory medicines. Placing warm compresses may also reduce the pain. However, the best thing is to visit your doctor and consult him about the pain and symptoms you feel and look for the most efficient option for you. If the disease is in its early stages, then medical treatment will solve the problem, if not gallbladder removal is always an option. The gallbladder removal surgery will definitely eliminate all the symptoms. And if you choose, for example, laparoscopic surgery, it is good to know that it is a low-risk surgery, and it is preferred by both doctors and patients.

After the surgery, the patient has to take care about its diet as we have mentioned in the previous paragraphs. This has to be done because the liver performs the functions of the gallbladder. And with slight changes in the diet and physical exercise the affected person may have a quality life.
